About

Hi, I’m Diane—a mom of two, wife, and daughter who discovered unexpected healing, hope, and connection through plants.

In 2021, I suffered a serious ankle injury that required surgery and a long recovery. Just as I was regaining my strength, a knee injury in 2023 set me back once again. These seasons of healing were difficult, but they also gave me a new perspective: I longed for friendship, connection, and something meaningful to bring light into the struggle.

That’s when I discovered kokedamas. At my first workshop, I felt joy again—my hands in the soil, laughter in the room, and creativity sparking to life. Later, while traveling in Colombia, I saw kokedamas thriving in their natural beauty, and I knew I had found my inspiration.

Plants taught me something powerful: growth takes time, healing comes in seasons, and connection makes it possible. Out of that realization, Moss & Pixel was born. My mission is to bring people together—to create, to laugh, and to heal—through the simple beauty of plants.

Whether you join me at a workshop, bring kokedamas into your home, or gift them to someone you love, I hope you feel the same spark of connection that lit a new path for me

Kokedama

Kokedama, which translates to “moss ball” in Japanese, is a centuries-old art form that transforms a plant into a living piece of sculpture. Wrapped in moss and twine instead of sitting in a traditional pot, kokedama highlights the plant’s natural beauty and turns it into a conversation piece. It’s a practice rooted in mindfulness, creativity, and a deep appreciation for nature.

Care

Making a kokedama might look complex, but it’s surprisingly approachable. By shaping a ball of soil around the plant’s roots, covering it with moss, and securing it with string, you create a self-contained home for your plant. Caring for one is simple, too—regular soaking, bright but indirect light, and a little attention go a long way. At Moss & Pixel, I’ll give you the tools and confidence to keep your kokedama thriving, no matter your level of plant experience.

Community

Moss & Pixel workshops are about more than making kokedamas—they’re about creating together. From team-building events to local gatherings, these hands-on experiences bring people closer to nature and to each other. Each workshop is designed to be fun, approachable, and memorable, helping you leave not only with a plant but with new skills and shared connections.
