Living kokedama
Plants, wrapped in living moss.
Kokedama is where Moss & Pixel started — a plant formed into a soil ball, wrapped in moss, and bound with twine. No pot, no saucer, just a living little sculpture you can set on a shelf, mount on a wall, or hang in the air.

The Japanese art of the moss ball.
Ko-ke-da-ma — literally “moss ball.” It grew out of Japanese bonsai practice, and it’s the art of freeing a plant from its pot: the roots are packed into a ball of soil, wrapped in a skin of living moss, and bound with twine.
What’s left is a small, self-contained piece of nature — sculptural, tactile, and alive. Each one is made by hand around a specific plant, so no two are quite the same. We wrap succulents, ferns, pothos, jade, and seasonal picks, then tag each with its plant and care.
A pot hides the plant. A kokedama makes the whole thing the art.
Or kokedama walls, when you want something alive.
Not every space wants a preserved wall. A kokedama wall mounts individual moss-wrapped plants straight to the surface — no irrigation lines, no reservoir, no plumbing. It’s the simplest way to put living greenery on a wall, and it’s where Moss & Pixel started.
Each kokedama is soaked individually every week or two, and any one of them can be lifted down, swapped, or replaced as the room changes. It needs daylight and a few minutes of care — we’ll tell you honestly whether your space can support one before we suggest it.

Easy to keep alive.
Kokedama needs a little attention, not a lot. Three simple habits keep one thriving for years.
Soak it
Every week or two, fully submerge the moss ball in water and let it soak until the bubbles stop. Once it feels heavy and saturated, remove it, gently squeeze out the excess water, set it aside to drain, and you’re done.
Light it
Bright, indirect light suits most kokedama. Succulents like it sunnier; ferns and pothos are happy in a shadier spot. We match the plant to your space when you buy.
Live with it
Set it in a dish, rest it on a stand, or hang it in the air. Move it, group it, gift it — and as it grows, we can re-wrap or swap the plant for you.
Every kokedama ships with a care tag that names its plant and its watering and light needs — so you always know exactly what it wants.
Workshops that get hands dirty, in a good way.
We bring the materials, the guidance, and the cleanup. You bring the people. Everyone leaves with something they made.
